Sumter County is having a Paddle Party at Marsh Bend Lake Pan Outlet Park, Sunday February 15th, 2014. Join in the fun and adventure as Sumter County celebrates Paddle Florida’s Wild Wonderful Withlacoochee kayaking event with a wild, wonderful pre-launch party! Bid bon voyage to the daring paddlers as they head out on their six-day journey down river through the very heart of Central-Florida to the Gulf of Mexico. Sunday afternoon will have plenty to keep the kids happy and the munchies at bay. Food, entertainment, guided tours, family activities and more will be provided by local businesses and underwritten in part by the Sumter County BOCC and the Tourism Development Council. Participants will be arriving throughout the afternoon Sunday in preparation for the Sunday night, pre-launch camp-out. Monday morning’s launch will be a site to behold as scores of kayaks of every shape and size make way for the coast. The adventure should prove to be an intense and memorable experience. If you wish to participate in any leg of the 6-day run, you can contact Paddle Florida to register.
