(View the print brochure!)

Join in the fun and adventure as Sumter County celebrates Paddle Florida’s Wild Wonderful Withlacoochee kayaking event with a wild, wonderful pre-launch party! Even if you’re not interested in kayaking or canoeing, the afternoon will be chock full of activities to keep the kids happy and the munchies at bay. A variety of live entertainment will be provided. Food and drinks will be made available by an assortment of local vendors, with a portion of the day’s proceeds going to the returning war veterans support group, Operation Home Shores.

Bid bon voyage to the daring paddlers as they head out on their six-day journey down river through the heart of Central-Florida to the Gulf of Mexico. Participants will be arriving throughout the afternoon Sunday in preparation for the pre-launch camp-out Sunday night.

Monday morning’s launch will be a site to behold as scores of kayaks of every shape and size make way for the coast. The adventure should prove to be an intense and memorable experience. If you wish to participate in any leg of the 6-day run, you can contact Paddle Florida to register.

On the other hand, if you just want to come visit and join in the festivities, no-preregistration is required. Entry is absolutely free.

This and other Sumter County Tourism events and promotions are brought to you in part by a Tourism Development Tax Grant from the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners in conjunction with the Sumter County Tourism Development Council.
