Junior Bassmasters, the largest B.A.S.S. Youth Fishing Club in the Southeastern US, will make Lake Panasoffkee a stop on its 2016 tournament tour schedule. The event will be held April 2 at Tracy’s Point Fishing Lodge on Lake Panasoffkee, in Sumter County, FL.
Come get in on the action. Challenge some of the best youth anglers in the state! Learn new fishing techniques. All are welcome to participate, even non-club members. Divisions are broken into age groups: 10-14 or 15-18, and can be either boaters ($5.00) or non-boaters ($40.00). To register, visit LakelandJuniorBassmasters.com and navigate to the Lake Pansasoffkee: The Final Hunt
Kids can get their angler on, or just hang out for the food, drinks, games and family-friendly fun. Anglers must be age 9-18. Fishing starts at safe light, with weigh-in taking place at 2:00PM.
Even the young-uns too young to participate will have plenty to keep them busy, including cornhole games, “Giant Jenga,” and a casting contest hosted by Kid Casters, where even the youngest novice can learn to cast like a pro.
All tournament participants and their families are entitled to discounted room rates at the Pana Vista Lodge, or any of the lakeside fish camps (While supplies last! Contact Sumter County Tourism at partner@discoversumterfl.com for more information).
Besides the usual trophies and awards, the tournament’s namesake, General Sumter, an 8-pound pre-tagged bass, is worth a cash prize of $10,000 to the angler that can haul him in. General Sumter and the $10,000 prize will be in play until April of 2016, so even if you can’t make the Bassmasters tournament, be sure to come to Lake Panasoffkee for your chance to bring in the General.
