Join us for a night walk on the Dade trails followed by star/meteorite gazing afterwards sky conditions permitting. Please bring insect repellent, flashlight, and chair or blanket for star gazing. Cost is $3/vehicle or Annual Florida State Park pass.
Join park staff, volunteers, period reenactors and guests as we commemorate the 186th Anniversary of Dade’s Battle of 1835. Speakers will recall the history and sacrifices made on all sides in the Second Seminole War, which began with the December 28, 1835 clash that occurred at what is now Dade Battlefield Historic State Park, a National Historic Landmark. The ceremony will culminate with a wreath laying at the breastworks in front of the park’s Visitor Center. Please note that this is NOT the reenactment of Dade’s Battle, which will take place in the park Jan 1-2, 2022. Free entry for ceremony.
Participants will make their own quilt panel under the supervision of expert quilters. Participants will bring their own materials and sewing machines. Call park for materials list. Cost is $3/vehicle or Florida State Parks Annual Pass plus $5/person. Pre-registration is required.
Commemorating the most widespread armed conflict in history and celebrating both military and popular civilian culture during the war years.
The weekend will include Allied and Axis uniformed reenactors, authentic camps and equipment, mechanized military vehicles, explore home front activities, enjoy 1940’s-Style Music and entertainment, living historians, food vendors.
