Scenic Sumter Heritage Byway Golf Scramble @ Continental Country Club

This event will feature lunch, a round of golf, prizes for Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive for both men and women, as well as recognition for the Top 3 teams with the highest scores. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just enjoy the sport, we promise a memorable experience for everyone involved. By participating as a golfer or an event sponsor, you will help ensure the success of this event, all while supporting the Scenic Sumter Heritage Byway and its efforts to preserve and promote our region’s unique heritage.

The Scenic Sumter Heritage Byway showcases Sumter County’s blend of natural beauty and historical significance. From the tranquil Withlacoochee River to picturesque farmland, this 62-mile corridor weaves together stories of early settlements, agricultural achievements, and a balance of nature and community. Proceeds from this event will directly support the Byway’s programs, which help maintain this legacy for generations to come.

Wild foods abound at Dade Battlefield, just waiting for educated visitors to sample with expert park staff and volunteers as their guides. We will forage for wild foods on the park grounds, create some wild food dishes and sample them!

Cost is park entry at $3/vehicle or Florida State Parks Annual Pass plus $5/person activity fee; children 12 and under free.

Traditional pine needle basketry is taught by Dade’s experienced volunteers.

All materials are provided to make a longleaf pine needle basket.

Get WILD with your students at Dade Battlefield Historic State Park each month in an immersive educational experience utilizing both indoor and outdoor activities teaching nature’s mysteries in a fun and engaging way!

Each month we will use curricula from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Project and Aquatic WILD.

Cost is free for this educational event.
