Coleman Landing was recently re-opened to the public and features a new boat ramp and access dock that was constructed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) in conjunction with the Sumter County Parks Department and Road and Bridge Department. Federal Funding from the Sport Fishing Restoration Act was used for the project along with funding from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.
The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District) in cooperation with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will begin an aquatic plant removal project requiring the temporary closure of the Coleman’s Landing boat ramp on the east side of Lake Panasoffkee beginning June 26.
Aquatic plants are being harvested to create boat access trails across the lake through areas of dense vegetation. Equipment required to off-load and transport the harvested plant material will be staged on the boat ramp preventing the launching of any boats.
The project is expected to take three to four weeks to complete and the boat ramp will remain closed during that time.
