A newly revitalized park in Lake Panasoffkee, on the Southeast end of the lake. The Shady Brook Greenway Park opened on May 10, 2011 and includes a new boat ramp, picnic shelter, table and grill for the perfect afternoon picnic.
The land was purchased in 1995 with funding from the Florida Communities Trust Fund (FCT). Plans for the park were put on hold due to the reconstruction of the Lake Panasoffkee Bridge, until 2009. The Sumter County Parks Department started construction of the park to meet stipulations stated in the FCT Grant, with funding from the Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC), and assistance from the Road and Bridge Department. FWC installed the aluminum access dock and a boat ramp for canoes and kayaks. The park is located on the East side of Lake Panasoffkee (I-75 Exit 321) between I-75 and the CSX railroad tracks (230 CR 470 N.).
Canoes and equipment available at the Panasoffkee Community Library.
All canoe rentals come with paddles and life vests.
